MARINA ANCONA

Master printer, Marina Ancona, (born 1971, New York, NY ) opened 10 Grand Press in 1999 in Brooklyn and has steadily expanded operations since. She moved to a larger workshop in Brooklyn in 2004 and opened a satellite workshop in Santa Fe in 2005, and continues to work in both locations. She has collaborated with a range of artists, including Nicole Eisenman, Jose Maria Sicilia, Jeff Gibson, Leidy Churchman, Nicola Lopez, Carrie Moyer, Rosy Keyser, and Harmony Hammond. Ancona is known for her ability to work in a variety of media and her dedication to experimentation and process. Editions are often variable and frequently incorporate innovative techniques or materials.

Before opening 10 Grand Press, Ancona worked in print shops in Santa Fe, Paris, and New York. She studied at the Boston Museum School and the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts, where she took master classes with Helen Frankenthaler, Ken Noland, Susan Rothenberg and others. 

Ancona has given lectures and workshops at Bard College, Sarah Lawrence College, SUNY Purchase, and Pratt Institute. Her projects have been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, including the Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Leo Koenig Gallery, Art in General, and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
